FOUR MUSICIANS. WAY MORE THAN FOUR INSTRUMENTS.
What happens when four seriously versatile string players stop worrying about what a chamber ensemble is supposed to sound like?
You get this.
For one Friday night at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Canadian Chamber Orchestra brings a quartet of musicians who are equally at home in the concert hall, a jazz club, a bluegrass session, or somewhere completely unexpected.
Violin, viola, cello and bass are just the starting point. These musicians move between instruments including guitar, mandolin and percussion, and across musical worlds with the same curiosity and musicality that defines the CCO.
Across two sets, expect an eclectic mix of classical music, jazz, bluegrass, fiddle music, pop, rock, Danish string quartet arrangements, Mark O'Connor arrangements, and whatever other musical connections these four musicians can't resist exploring.
It's polished enough for the AGO. Loose enough to surprise you.
Come for the familiar instruments. Stay for the unfamiliar sounds.
Two sets: 6:15 PM & 7:30 PM
Four musicians. One night. No genre boundaries.
