Fresh from the release of Where the Light Breaks, the Canadian Chamber Orchestra brings two works from its debut album to the stage, including the world-premiere recording of Dinuk Wijeratne's Gajaga Vannama: Fantasy Variations on a Traditional Sri Lankan Theme.

George Walker's Lyric, Kareem Roustom's vibrant Dabke, and Jessie Montgomery's electrifying Starburst round out the program, leading into the expansive second half: Grieg's monumental String Quartet No. 2, arranged for string orchestra.

Presented by Music Toronto, this is fourteen exceptional musicians at their most virtuosic, expressive, and alive.

This January, the Canadian Chamber Orchestra returns to the Art Gallery of Ontario for an afternoon of music inspired by the art around it.

Drawing on the AGO's historic frame collection, the work of Kazuo Nakamura, and Sunday Best, the CCO brings music into the galleries before coming together for a full-orchestra performance in the AGO's spectacular Atrium.

Art, music, and a Sunday afternoon at the AGO. Don’t forget to wear your Sunday Best.

Every musician has a story about the moment music became more than just something they listened to. Maybe it was a piece that completely blew your mind. A record you played obsessively as a teenager. A concert that changed everything. A song that made you pick up an instrument and think “I want to know how to do that.”

For this Living Room Listening Party, we're handing the playlist over to the musicians of the Canadian Chamber Orchestra.

Happy hour at 6:30pm, concert at 7:30

FIRE. DROUGHT. FURY. DOUBT. REDEMPTION.

Mendelssohn's Elijah is not exactly a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Pax Chorale and the Canadian Chamber Orchestra come together for one of the great dramatic works of the choral repertoire. 100 voices and 14 musicians taking on a story of catastrophe, conviction, persecution, miracles and hope.

Thunderous choruses. Extraordinary soloists. Mendelssohn at full power.
