This January, the Canadian Chamber Orchestra returns to the Art Gallery of Ontario for an afternoon of music inspired by the art around it.
Drawing on three distinct AGO exhibitions, including the museum's extraordinary collection of historic frames, the work of Canadian artist Kazuo Nakamura, and Sunday Best, the program explores connections between music and visual art through colour, texture, pattern, movement, contrast, and atmosphere.
The music begins in intimate performances inside the galleries by the musicians of the CCO, before the orchestra comes together for a full Canadian Chamber Orchestra performance in the AGO's spectacular Atrium.
From the intricate craftsmanship of centuries-old frames to Nakamura's quietly mesmerizing visual language and the vivid world of Sunday Best, the galleries provide both the setting and the inspiration for an afternoon of music that moves freely between the visual and the musical.
RE-FRAMED is a chance to experience the AGO in a new context and to hear the Canadian Chamber Orchestra in a setting unlike any other.
Come spend a Sunday afternoon with us, surrounded by art and music, and don’t forget to wear your Sunday Best.
