Duo Chromatika brings that second kind to the AGO.
Violinist Julia Mirzoev and violinist, violist, and guitarist Russell Iceberg are two remarkably versatile musicians with a shared appetite for music that doesn't behave itself. Their program moves freely between classical tradition, jazz, improvisation, contemporary music, and their own arrangements—sometimes elegant, sometimes swinging, and often somewhere in between.
Expect familiar music in unfamiliar colours, virtuosic playing, unexpected turns, and the kind of musical chemistry that comes from two players who genuinely enjoy taking chances together.
For this special Friday Night at the AGO, Duo Chromatika will perform two sets that explore the space between the music we know and the music we haven't heard yet.
Classical? Jazz? Something else entirely?
Don't worry too much about the label.
